Who are we?

Location and Duration

Location: Flexible / Remote

Duration: 12 months (with possibility of extension)

Cohere Labs is the dedicated research arm of Cohere, tackling foundational questions in AI across disciplines. This role provides space to conduct rigorous, theory‑informed, and empirically grounded research on AI’s impact on the economy, labor markets, and institutions.

Qualifications
  • A PhD (or advanced PhD candidate) in Economics, Political Economy, Public Policy, or related field.
  • Strong training in economic theory, econometrics, or applied micro/macro.
  • Research interest in technology, innovation, labor, growth, or institutions.
  • Publication record (or pipeline) in peer‑reviewed venues.
  • Interest in engaging with AI systems and real‑world deployment.
  • Desire to collaborate across disciplines while retaining intellectual independence.

  • Concern for long‑term societal consequences of technological change.
