Research Support Analyst
Location: Offices in Fenchurch Avenue, London. Hybrid working.
OverviewRSSB are recruiting a Research Support Analyst to join the Research Directorate. The Research Directorate runs the research programme, generating new knowledge for the industry and supporting the dissemination and implementation of that knowledge. The analyst team assesses ideas for new research projects, develops each project’s case for research, ensures strategic fit and good return on investment, reviews projects upon completion and facilitates monitoring of industry implementation.
This is a permanent role with a closing date of 25th January 2026
. Interviews will take place in the week commencing 2nd and 9th February 2026.
- Develop research:
Work with industry stakeholders and RSSB Professional and Technical Leads to scope new research projects covering all aspects of the rail sector. - Establish business cases:
Investigate and describe the expected impact of new research on GB rail, and assess its value. - Provide research delivery support:
Monitor and contribute to delivery of a diverse range of research projects, from engineering to rail operations. - Communicate research findings:
Prepare impactful communication materials and present to industry groups and stakeholders research remits, findings, expected impacts, benefits and implementation routes. - Post Project Review (PPR):
Deliver high‑quality PPRs ensuring sound logic and benefits analysis and effectively communicate results. - Implementation planning:
Support RSSB Professional and Technical in identifying and realizing industry uptake of research findings. - Knowledge searches:
Use analytical and business writing skills to answer members’ questions through desk‑based research, collating information from public sources and generating insight. - Programme support:
Provide coordination and reporting of the research programme to industry and other key stakeholders.
- Essential: Hold a degree in an engineering discipline, mathematics, or economics (or an equivalent qualification or experience).
