Veterinary Care Assistant

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Veterinary Care Assistant to join us at Friern Barnet Vets for Pets! Our practice is bright, spacious, air‑conditioned and purpose‑built to industry‑leading standards and has state‑of‑the‑art equipment including digital X‑ray and in‑house laboratory facilities.

Your tasks will include keeping the clinic clean, tidy, and organised; feeding and monitoring in‑patients; running clinical tests; managing stock; handling a variety of small animals; helping set up for operations; deep cleaning all areas; speaking to clients on the phone and in person. Good verbal communication skills and basic computer literacy are essential. The role is full‑time (40 hrs per week) and will include weekends on a rota basis.

• Friendly and welcoming to clients and their pets when they arrive at the practice.
• Keep yourself fully up‑to‑speed with the practice services and any additional services available.
• Calm, attentive and always focused on the clients’ needs.
• Enthusiastic with drive; passion for service matched with love of pets.
• Handle stressful situations such as comforting clients with bad news or sharing in the joy of a new puppy’s first visit.
• Create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the practice together with colleagues.
• Previous experience would be advantageous.
