Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join the Major Trauma Nurse Practitioner Team in a 0.5 WTE part time role.

Having senior experience in ED, ICU or surgical ward nursing will be very beneficial to compliment this role.

The post holder will coordinate the major trauma patient pathway from ED through to discharge and oversee the development and implementation of standards and protocols to underpin this.

This involves working with multidisciplinary teams across all divisions in the Trust and with colleagues in network trauma units to ensure the best possible care of patients (both adults and children) who have sustained multiple injuries.

This will be achieved by:

  • Working alongside the Major Trauma Practitioner team and wider members of the Major Trauma Team as an experienced practitioner delivering an expert nursing service within the Major Trauma Pathway.
  • Performing advanced clinical assessments and tertiary surveys of trauma patients to identify and provide management for injuries.
  • Effectively managing a caseload of patients/clients.
  • Ensuring that patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and social support.
  • Contributing to the development of evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines.

The post holder will need strong leadership skills and the ability to act as a senior professional role model at all times.

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is a good team player and ready for a new challenge.

You will work alongside the team to provide a 7 day service.
