Position: Staff Nurse (Maple Ward)
Location: Greater London

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Staff Nurse for our values‑driven Trust, focused on shaping the future of mental health services in an inclusive, equity‑driven environment that actively opposes racism.

This role is part of an innovative Short Stay mixed‑gender Psychiatric Ward that operates under a maximum 28‑day admission framework. The model integrates evidence‑based approaches, robust gate‑keeping processes, multidisciplinary team working, a Red‑to‑Green discharge facilitation approach, and strong integration with Home Treatment Teams (HTT) for admission prevention and early supported discharge.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct personal care to service users/patients without direct supervision.
  • Coordinate the care delivered by colleagues and co‑ordinate the delivery of comprehensive service user assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of person‑centred care.
  • Deliver high‑quality, safe nursing care, ensuring consistently high standards of practice and clinical excellence that comply with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct.
  • Conduct assessment and monitoring of physical health, maintain service users’ rights, supervise junior staff and students, and work collaboratively with the multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic working environment and keep accurate records.
Qualifications
  • Registered Band 5 Nurse with nursing registration held through completion of a qualification recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Experience or willingness to work in mental health settings, with a proactive nature and excellent communication and relational skills.
  • Commitment to patient‑centred care and collaboration with carers and families.

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting – our largest, 19‑ward site located in Springfield Village, a 32‑acre public park area with shops and cafes. The site is accessible via the Northern Line (Tooting Bec), Earlsfield, and Tooting rail stations, as well as bus routes.
