Senior Staff Nurse - Haematology Inpatients | Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust

Position Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic, confident, dynamic and motivated experienced nurses with excellent communication skills and experience of oncology and haematology patients who contribute to maintaining the highest standards of care while demonstrating effective leadership and providing support.

• Provide ongoing care for Oncology and Haematology patients (including Sickle Cell) in inpatient wards Olive and Hazel (which will be transferred to Hawthorn Ward and Young Adult Unit when the new ward opens) and Samaritan ward.
• Work with the wider multidisciplinary team to support patients receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy and supportive care.
• Assess and recognise emergencies in the specialty.
• Support and lead the team in adhering to areas of compliance and governance.
• Provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring and delivering patient care.

• All applicants must have NMC registration.
• Ideally experience in Haematology Oncology.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Motivated and confident nurses who wish to develop leadership skills.

• Olive & Hazel Ward (3rd Floor, Bermondsey wing): 26 beds – 9 beds across 3 bays and 17 isolation rooms, including 3 Radio‑Nuclei rooms.
• Samaritan Ward (8th Floor, Borough wing): 15 beds – 6 beds across 2 bays and 8 isolation rooms.
• Young Adult Unit (4th Floor, Bermondsey wing – yet to open): hybrid outpatient and inpatient service with 5 inpatient isolation rooms and 7 treatment chairs.
• Hawthorn Ward: 15 beds – 12 beds across 4 bays and 3 isolation rooms.
