We have exciting opportunities for dynamic and enthusiastic Band 5 nurses to join our friendly endoscopy team. Come and find out about the wide range of roles that the Endoscopy nurse undertake such as:

• Pre-assessment
• Assisting in the procedure rooms for both diagnostic endoscopy and complex therapeutic endoscopy
• Patient monitoring in procedure room
• Set up of advanced therapeutic procedures
• Recovery
• Discharge

We have fabulous career pathways for those staff wanting to progress further including leadership opportunities and advanced practice roles such as training as a Nurse Endoscopist.

We are a state of the art modern busy unit performing diagnostic and specialist therapeutic procedures for patients from across London and the South East of England.

• We are open 7 days a week.
• The shift pattern is 4 x 9.5 hour shifts per week.
• Shifts are either 8am to 6pm or 9am to 7pm.
• We provide an out of hours emergency bleed service (On-Call) which is supported by nurses once they have been fully trained.
• We attend other areas in the hospital to assist with emergency procedures.
• National training passport for competence is available which will allow you to take this competence anywhere in the country.

A fully trained endoscopy nurse will always be in demand.

The post holder is responsible for assessment of care needs, planning programmes of care, implementation and evaluation of these programmes without direct supervision of patients undergoing endoscopy. At times they will have management responsibility for being in-charge of the unit and supervising junior members of staff. The post holder will be a key member in relation to the development of practice on the ward.

They will be working independently/autonomously and at times without direct supervision, accountable for their own professional actions. Ensuring the safety and well being of services users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centred care principles.
