Endocrine Specialist Nurse - Part Time - Fixed term

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Registered Band 5 or 6 Nurse to join our dynamic Endocrine team in our Endocrine Investigation Unit on fixed term for 6 months 30 hours each week.
The role is to deliver high quality specialist care and support to patients with Endocrine conditions. Clinical responsibilities will include performing dynamic function testing as well as running nurse led clinics including Growth Hormone.
The successful candidate will have experience in Endocrine or have a keen interest, and is expected to work closely with Consultants, members of the MDT, patient support groups, PALS and research personnel. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team are essential.
Main duties of the job- Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients with endocrine disorders.
- Taking charge and actively participating in and contributing to the management of the whole unit in the absence of the unit manager.
- Providing specialist knowledge within the unit for example patient education, performing dynamic function tests, participating in research and audit.
- Organising the admission of patients to the day care unit by booking patients for dynamic function tests, ordering specialised medication and ensuring appropriateness of referrals for tests. Nurse led clinics.

Qualifications and Training- RN- 5 years post registration
- At Least 2 years at band 6 working with patients within the field of Endocrinology
- At Least 1 year undertaking dynamic function tests
- Evidence of working at a higher level of nursing i.e. Post-grad diploma/MSc
- Ability to use negotiation skills
- Membership of The Society For Endocrinology
- Endocrine Nurse Certificate or working towards Endocrine Diploma
- ENB 998 or equivalent teaching course
- Participation in formal and informal teaching programmes specific to endocrinology
- Ability to communicate patient information /education
- Evidence of own updating and academic education
- Co-ordination of teaching programmes
- Published articles
- Poster presentations at national/international level
- Interpretation of dynamic function tests
- Excellent communicator across all levels
- Ability to manage change
- Experience of Clinical Governance
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent organisational skills
- Development of service strategies and promotion of services Trust wide
- Experience in the titration of medicines
- Proficiency at using databases/Excel/micro-soft word
- Knowledge of current clinical and nursing research related to endocrinology
- Evidence of audit/research

- The ability to manage stressful situations and in turn support others in stressful situation
