Job Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed band 5 registered nurses to join our temporary staffing bank at The Royal Free Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a trust bank nurse you can choose a flexible working pattern to suit your work‑life balance in a variety of clinical settings as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver excellent care to an allocated group of patients, providing total patient care in each clinical area you work on.
  • Work across a range of clinical settings – acute medical care, managing deteriorating patients, wound management, pain management, diabetes management, health promotion, patient education, complex discharge planning, sepsis treatment, end‑of‑life care, dementia and delirium care.
  • Teach unqualified staff and liaise appropriately with all key members of the multidisciplinary team and service users.
  • Support staff health policy by getting vaccinated and receiving boosters for COVID‑19 as required.
  • Provide bank shifts (days, nights and weekends) across all sites, with long day and night shifts paid for 11.5 hours.
Applicant Requirements / Person Specification
  • UK nursing professional registration appropriate for practice.
  • First‑level adult registration.
  • Minimum 18 months experience as a staff nurse, including recent clinical experience in general medical/surgical and elderly care settings.
  • Experience working within a team and across a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Knowledge of caring for acutely unwell adult patients and an interest in learning and developing clinical skills.
  • Good communication skills and a good understanding of customer care.
  • Basic organisational skills, IT literacy and a good attendance history.
  • Ability to work shifts, internal rotation to night duty, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and a positive, professional and polite demeanor.
