Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band five pre-assessment staff nurse in the Admissions and Pre-assessment department. This position has the opportunity to develop skills and experience towards a band six pre-assessment staff nurse. You will be given numerous opportunities to stretch and challenge yourself. You will work with multiple departments such as Occupational therapy, Physiotherapy, Complex discharge team, Clinical nurse specialist, Consultant anaesthetist, surgeons, and the list continues.
The aim is for you to work closely or sometimes independently of the anaesthetist to ensure that your patient is safe to proceed to have surgery.
This Pre-assessment department comprises of an Echocardiogram room, Cardiopulmonary exercise tolerance test room, face to face anaesthetist review, nurse assessment and Phlebotomy clinic. We also work with surgical clinics, whereby we accept Walk-in patients who will require to be pre-assessed on the same day. We have an exciting change coming soon and we would you to be apart of it. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with a flair to problem solve, to work flexibly, manage a caseload and work under pressure.

Responsibilities- To plan, document, deliver and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients in a responsible and efficient way, which has been drawn up in conjunction with the co-ordinator of the shift
- To develop a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the different treatment modalities administered within the unit.
- To develop an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of managing a shift with the guidance of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
