Lambeth Inpatient wards are excited to offer opportunities to staff who would like to work as Clinical Charge Nurses.
The following wards has vacancy for clinical charge nurses:
Luther King Ward is an 18 male bedded ward.
Florence Ward is an 15 female bedded ward
We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic candidates, with a commitment to delivering high standards of care.
The post holder will deliver high quality care including robust assessments of need and risk, evidence based interventions and liaison with other services in line with Trust policies and those of their registration body's code of professional conduct. It is essential that you can understand and manage risk effectively and produce collaborative care plans with service users and carers.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will deliver, or advise on the delivery of, high quality safe nursing care, ensuring consistently high standards of practice and clinical excellence which comply with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct.
As a Clinical Charge Nurse you will promote and develop clinical leadership and clinical practice and be a positive role model to junior members of the team through the practice of evidence-based care.
You will be expected to support professional development through clinical appraisal and supervision and contribute to the ongoing educational programme for staff, fostering a positive learning environment. Your professional and personal development will include further postgraduate study and you will be encouraged and supported by your line manager to undertake Master's programmes.
To lead a team of nursing staff in the delivery of high quality evidence-based practice, ensuring that regular supervision and appraisal take place.
The post holder will carry out nursing procedures to a standard that ensures safe and effective care, and complies with The Nursing and Midwifery Council's Code of Professional Conduct.
There is an expectation that the post holder will place the needs of service users at the centre of care delivery.

Jobresponsibilities
- Participate on the site based on call systems as required (may vary dependent upon site and borough). This to include the role of bed management bleep holder and Duty Senior Nurse.
- To act as a Primary Nurse for a specified number of clients.
- To undertake effective risk assessment and management.
- Work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary on the ward and to liaise effectively with external services and organisations.
- Implement and ensure effective use of the Mental Health Act where necessary. Ensure safe standards apply to the administration of medication. Ensure that there are effective standards of clinical care for clients both physically and psychologically.
- Maintain an effective environment which will include adhering policies and procedures related to Health and Safety and also to ensuring that the environment is therapeutic.
- Ensure adherence to Trust policies and procedures at all times. Assist with the development and/or review of policies and procedures as required.
- Work as an effective role model to staff and students. To participate in teaching programmes with all staff and students. Assist in the induction of new staff and mentoring of students. To have an awareness of own development and training need.
- Participate in regular supervision with supervisor. Participate in the supervision of other staff as directed.
- Undertake any additional duties deemed appropriate to grade.
- Registered Nurse (Mental Health / RNLD)
- SLTP training.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Degree or equivalent experience.
- RGN.
- Management Course.
- Experience of managing clinical practice at Band 5.
- Experience of implementing and monitoring standards of care.
- Experience of providing clinical and managerial supervision.
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment and knowledge of methods to develop culturally sensitive practice.
- Experience of recruitment and selection of staff.
- Experience of working with other client groups and of using a variety of models and approaches to care.
- Experience of managing non-clinical staff and other professionals.
- Experience of staff performance management.
- Experience of implementing significant changes in working practices.
- Experience of project management.
