Clinical Nurse Specialist – Headache and Facial Pain Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Headache and Facial Pain Service at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS).

The successful candidate will need to be well organised and reliable with excellent communication and inter‑professional skills. You will also need to be flexible in working hours especially during nurse liées clinic days.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate who has a focus on maintaining and achieving high quality patient care throughout the patient pathway.

Person Specification Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register
  • Teaching/Assessment programme
  • Relevant post‑registration headache training programme
  • Working towards or having completed the neuro‑course (or equivalent)
Experience
  • Demonstrate relevant experience in same specialty at Band 6 or above (SO)
  • Demonstrate experience in running CGRP clinics.
Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrates evidence of ability to educate others
  • Willing to provide support to other clinical areas within the division
  • Demonstrates awareness of resource management issues within boundaries of role
  • Competency and experience in performing Botulinum toxin injections for migraine.
  • Competency and experience in performing multiple cranial nerve block injections for headache disorders
  • Demonstrates up to date knowledge and expertise in the specialty
  • Previous experience in audit and evaluation
Communication
  • Demonstrates awareness of the importance of working in a multi‑disciplinary team
  • Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats
  • Communicates with patients and carers in an empathetic manner
  • Demonstrates understanding of good practice in Customer Care
