Clinical Nurse Specialist - North Middlesex University Hospital

Marie Curie UK is seeking an experienced palliative care nurse to join our new service at North Middlesex University Hospital.

In this role, you will identify patients in the Emergency Department who are likely in their last year of life, provide specialist palliative care, and facilitate prompt discharge to appropriate care providers aligned with patients’ preferred place of care.

• Lead clinical assessments and care planning
• Provide advanced symptom control and communication support
• Coordinate with community and hospital palliative care services for rapid discharge home or preferred place of care
• Supervise Senior Healthcare Assistants, mentor ED staff, and support team learning
• Manage nursing services for individuals with terminal illnesses, supporting families, and collaborating with health professionals

• Proven experience in Specialist Palliative Care and complex patient needs
• Prior experience managing complex discharges within an Emergency Department (preferred)
• Registered Nurse on the NMC Adult register
• Strong ability to connect emotionally with patients and families

• Job Structure: Permanent
• Hours: Flexible; full‑time and part‑time available
• Workdays: Monday‑Friday; weekend coverage as service grows
• Salary: £38,682–£46,580 plus High‑cost area supplement (AFC aligned)
• Location: North Middlesex University Hospital, London
