HOURS: Full-Time (40-Hours/Week)

SALARY: £32,000 - £36,000 DOE

London Vet Specialists are recruiting for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join the team at our multidisciplinary referral centre in Hammersmith in Spring 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skills by rotating through the specialist services of a central London multi-disciplinary referral centre, where previous referral experience is not required.

We now have a complete compliment of specialist-led services, including orthopaedic and soft‑tissue surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, anaesthesia & analgesia, cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, oncology, neurology & emergency and critical care.

Role Overview

The Multi‑Disciplinary RVN will work collaboratively with the Head of Nursing Services (HoNS), Lead Nurses, Clinical Director and Clinicians across the hospital to ensure the efficient delivery of outstanding patient care across all services. Your responsibilities will include the provision of high standards of patient and client care, monitoring of sedation and anaesthesia, ward nursing and care, the handling, maintenance & care of equipment, assisting with procedures, accurate record keeping & effective communication and teamwork.

You will work enthusiastically with the nursing team to help maintain a happy and efficient working environment.

As a multi‑disciplinary RVN, your work will be shared throughout all disciplines at LVS, including orthopaedic and soft‑tissue surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, cardiology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, wards & ICU. Your specific clinical interests and passions will be encouraged. Our multi‑disciplinary team consists of 6 RVNs led by our 5 Lead RVNs, who provide support to the team through their rotations alongside the discipline‑focused RVNs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a high and sustainable quality of patient care across all services.
  • Prioritise inpatient care and the implementation of nursing care plans.
  • Ensure the comfort and safety of patients undergoing investigations, hospitalisation and surgery.
  • Assist with consultations and undertake nurse consultations as appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping, especially regarding anaesthetic and hospitalisation records in Smart Flow.
  • Assist with stock management within your department and coordinate with the pharmacy & purchasing assistant.
  • Work with the Patient Flow Coordinator and Lead Nurses to plan for the daily case load and highlight any issues or concerns that may arise.
  • Participate in team briefings and meetings to ensure effective and efficient communication.
  • Under the direction of the clinicians, contact and liaise with clients to provide / receive patient updates.
  • Take part in team reflections of incidents and near misses, to continually improve our patient care and safety, including Halo reporting.
  • As a cat‑friendly clinic, support the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM) cat‑friendly standards across the hospital.
  • As a dog‑friendly clinic, support the Dogs Trust and British Veterinary Behaviour Association (BVBA) dog‑friendly standards across the hospital.
