Richmond Pharmacology is a dedicated clinical trials unit. As a full‑service Clinical Research Organisation, our expertise spans consultancy and concept development through to final reporting. We work with leading experts in a multitude of therapy areas. Additionally, we have a new private outpatient clinic London Bridge Healthcare (). The team specialises in a variety of medical services including varicose vein treatments, radio frequency ablation, coronary health checks, gynaecology, urology, dermatology and hand and wrist pain.
RoleThis is a shared role as Resuscitation Practitioner and Clinic Nurse, working three days as Resuscitation Practitioner covering the clinical trials unit and two days as a clinic nurse at our private healthcare unit.
Main Duties and Responsibilities Clinic Nurse- Provide nursing services to the clinic by assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
- Provide nursing treatments to patients independently or in participation with nurse colleagues or clinicians with reference to agreed protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain continued education by attending relevant courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development.
- Familiarise with changes and progress in nursing care, evaluating and adapting care using evidence‑based practice in consultation with colleagues as a forum for team education, development and audit.
- Perform nursing procedures including wound management, measuring blood pressure, taking blood samples, ECGs, assisting consultants with minor surgery, pre‑surgical patient care and post‑surgical patient care training.
- Advise patients with pre‑ and post‑surgery care.
- Participate in activities and audits required to assess compliance with CQC essential standards.
- Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patients’ health care and registration with the clinic.
- Maintain effective liaison with other agencies and staff concerned with patient care and with other disciplines within the clinic, with appropriate regard to confidentiality.
- Have working knowledge of equipment used in the surgery.
- Participate in the assessment of the effectiveness of health care provided by the clinic.
- Inform the Clinical Services Manager or Head of Private Healthcare of any reported or suspected failings in the provision of care within the clinic.
- Participate in taking care of your own health and safety; staff must not compromise the health and safety of either their colleagues or themselves. Staff should also be aware of the responsibilities placed in them by legislation to ensure health and safety procedures are followed.
- Take a leadership role in clinical emergencies within the unit.
- Utilise ALS instructor status to develop resuscitation skills within the team.
- Ensure BLS/ALS/ILS staff are compliant with RCUK/Richmond requirements, facilitating the unit’s adherence to phase one requirements through monthly ALS/ILS assessments.
- Oversee and document emergency system checks.
- Deliver robust clinical skills training in infection prevention and control, peripheral intravenous cannulation and resuscitation equipment.
- Act as a member of the RCUK ILS course faculty at Richmond during course days.
- Provide clinical oversight and emergency management guidance for Research Physicians, Associate Resuscitation Practitioners, and Clinical Staff.
- Deliver Supervised Learning Evaluations to Research Physicians, Resuscitation Practitioners, and clinical staff.
- Deliver Mini Clinical Examination Exercises to Research Physicians, Resuscitation Practitioners, and Clinical Staff.
- Complete ALS cover during dosing days, including night shifts.
- Ensure patients are cannulated and assist with blood samples.
- Registered healthcare professional with BSc or above.
- RCUK ALS provider.
- RCUK ILS course provider.
- Minimum of 3 years post‑qualification experience as a registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner.
- Experience as a theatre practitioner.
