Full time: 37.5 hours per week

Shift times: Monday – Sunday (flexibility to work long days, nights & weekends)

Permanent Contract

Salary: Competitive plus shift allowance

This is a great opportunity to join The Princess Grace Hospital as a Staff Nurse in the Complex Medical Unit. Our Acute Medicine pathway provides a 24/7 service, providing care in our Acute Admission Unit, Acute Care Unit, or via our Urgent Care Centre, ensuring patients receive the best possible treatment whenever they need it.

This position is based in our 19‑bedded ward caring for acute medical patients with a posture of breast surgery patients and day‑case procedures such as iron infusions, interventional radiology procedures (biopsies, etc.).

As an Acute Medical Nurse, you’ll be part of a team delivering high quality care to our acutely unwell patients, with a range of complex care needs. You will have the opportunity to work with our dedicated team of medical consultants from a wide range of medical specialties.

Day‑to‑day, you will use your knowledge and expertise to manage acutely unwell patients and work with our multi‑disciplinary team to support our 1‑hour pathway for patient assessment and deliver high‑quality care to our general medical and surgical patients requiring medical input or optimisation.

You will provide independent assessment of patient care requirements, develop and implement care plans, and deliver appropriate nursing interventions. Ensure that the ward whiteboard is updated at the start of each shift. Maintain awareness of consultant protocols and demonstrate early recognition of deteriorating patients. Follow strict processes for documentation, recording, and monitoring patient observations, escalating concerns promptly using the SBAR handover framework.

Attendance at RED training is required to support safe and effective practice.

What You’ll Bring
  • NMC Registered Adult Nurse
  • Post‑qualifying experience in a Complex Medical unit environment (A&E desirable)
