We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Digestive Diseases Unit team here at The London Clinic, based in Devonshire Place, London (W1G 6JA
). We are offering a competitive inclusive salary range of £50,713 - £60,848 per annum.

Unit and services

Our Digestive Diseases Unit comprises of 16 patient rooms all with en-suite facilities. We provide medical and mainly surgical care to patients across a range of range of digestive health conditions. This includes everything from Barrett's oesophagus and Crohn’s disease to polyps. Our Consultants are leading the way in developing ground-breaking treatments, and we are the first private hospital in the UK to offer patients Spy Glass® cholangioscopy, which helps diagnose and treat conditions including:
Bile duct stones, Pancreatic duct stones, Benign tumours and Malignant tumours.

Job Profile

The post holder will directly deliver stoma care and give specialist advice on the management of complex colorectal cases based on current evidence to their own caseload, across a variety of settings, e.g. ward and outpatient department, in order to provide a flexible service that is responsive to the need of the client group.

The role involves providing support and specialist nursing advice to clinical colleagues in complex cases. To improve the care of patients within the clinical field by improving the knowledge and skills of first-line staff through education (both Clinic wide and on an individual basis), and to undertake audit, review and appropriate service development practices. Your role will also include;

  • Manage specialised programmes of care for patients with chronic disease, i.e. leads / contributes to development of care pathways, clinical guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Provide highly specialised advice concerning the care and treatment of identified groups or categories of patients / clients to the multi-disciplinary team as required
  • Contribute to strategies designed to promote and improve health and prevent disease within their specific field of practice
  • Identify any resources required to meet patient needs
  • Empower patients and their families to influence and use available services, information and skills to the full and act as advocate where appropriate.
  • Establish and evaluate caseload and workload profiles, reporting any trends or shortfalls to the Lead Colorectal Nurse
  • Measure / benchmark local services against national guidelines and data.
  • Audit and evaluate care in relation to the speciality, encompassing clinically effective interventions.
Skills & Experience
  • Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration.
  • Master’s degree (or working towards) in relevant field / or equivalent / higher post graduate qualification.
  • Considerable post registration experience in an acute hospital setting within digestive diseases.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work under pressure and flexibly as part of a team.
  • Significant post-registration clinical experience.
