Overview

, both of which contribute to strengthening civic participation, leadership development and community integration in the UK.
The Community Engagement Coordinator will play a central role in building, maintaining and coordinating relationships with grassroots British Muslim communities and partner organisations, supporting the Adam Foundation’s work and key aligned initiatives including CEH and Avicenna. The role requires a deep understanding of the lived realities of British Muslim communities, including religious institutions and cultural practices, and the credibility to build trust across diverse networks.
This role is well-suited to a highly organised, people-focused individual who can coordinate multiple stakeholders, support high-quality programme delivery and events, and ensure community engagement is consistent, respectful and outcomes-focused.
Key responsibilities- Identify, map and support relationships with grassroots community groups, mosques, madrasas, community centres, women’s networks, youth groups, and local institutions aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
- Act as a key point of contact for community partners, maintaining proactive communication and enabling effective collaboration.
- Build and maintain a strong network of community leaders and institutions across diverse traditions and cultures within British Muslim life.
- Support reciprocal partnership approaches, ensuring expectations are clear, engagement is culturally competent, and relationships are mutually beneficial.
- Coordinate community participation across programmes and events, ensuring the right stakeholders are engaged at the right time.
- Support leadership development and civic engagement initiatives by liaising with participants, partners and religious/community representatives.
- Assist with consultations, round tables and workshops that connect communities with decision-makers, public services, and leadership opportunities.
- Ensure safeguarding awareness and appropriate practice in all community-facing activity, including participant support, boundaries, and escalation.
- Support planning and delivery of community events, consultations, round tables, workshops and partner convening, both in-person and online.
- Manage event logistics including invitations, registration, attendance tracking, speaker/community liaison, briefings, run-of-show documents and post-event follow-up.
- Ensure high-quality participant experience, including culturally sensitive planning (e.g. prayer considerations, dietary requirements, gender-sensitive spaces where appropriate, and timing around religious calendars).
- Produce clear, concise partner and internal briefings, meeting notes and action trackers.
- Support preparation of community-facing communications and materials that are accessible, culturally competent, and aligned to the Foundation’s tone and values.
- Contribute to consistent messaging across the Adam Foundation and aligned initiatives, ensuring communications reflect community realities and build trust.
- Maintain accurate partnership records, contact databases, engagement logs and event trackers.
- Support monitoring of engagement activities (participation, qualitative feedback, outcomes, insights) and contribute to internal and external reporting.
