Are you passionate about tradition, ceremony, and making a meaningful impact at some of our most important events? We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our Ceremonial Staff as Priory Ceremonial Volunteers.

- Do you want to help uphold the values and traditions of a historic Order of Chivalry?
As a Priory Ceremonial Volunteer, you will play a key role in delivering major ceremonial occasions for St John, including events at St Paul’s Cathedral and the Priory Church. You’ll help create a welcoming environment, foster a sense of belonging, and promote a positive image of the charity. While our ceremonies are conducted within a Christian framework, we welcome applicants of all faiths or none.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Support the delivery of ceremonial events, ensuring a positive experience for all attendees
- Present a positive image of St John and maintain our customs and traditions
- Help recognise the outstanding contributions of our people at key events
- Understanding and respect for the Christian traditions and values of the Order
- Experience of, or interest in, formal ceremonial occasions (especially those of the Order of St John)
- Physical capability to perform the role
- Good bearing, presence, and interpersonal skills
- Reliability, timekeeping, and a smart appearance
- Willingness to regularly attend major ceremonial occasions, mainly in Central London
- Understanding of the history and structure of the Order and the Priory Commitment & Support
- Expected to attend 3–4 events per year
- Initial term of five years, renewable
- Line managed by an Assistant Director of Ceremonies
- Mandatory training and ceremonial robes provided
