Are you passionate about tradition, ceremony, and making a meaningful impact at some of our most important events? We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our Ceremonial Staff as Priory Ceremonial Volunteers.

Is This Role for You?
  • Do you have experience with ceremonial duties or a keen interest in formal occasions?
  • Are you meticulous in your appearance, engaging, and confident?
  • Do you want to help uphold the values and traditions of a historic Order of Chivalry?

As a Priory Ceremonial Volunteer, you will play a key role in delivering major ceremonial occasions for St John, including events at St Paul’s Cathedral and the Priory Church. You’ll help create a welcoming environment, foster a sense of belonging, and promote a positive image of the charity. While our ceremonies are conducted within a Christian framework, we welcome applicants of all faiths or none.

What

You’ll Do
  • Support the delivery of ceremonial events, ensuring a positive experience for all attendees
  • Present a positive image of St John and maintain our customs and traditions
  • Help recognise the outstanding contributions of our people at key events
What We’re Looking For
  • Understanding and respect for the Christian traditions and values of the Order
  • Experience of, or interest in, formal ceremonial occasions (especially those of the Order of St John)
  • Physical capability to perform the role
  • Good bearing, presence, and interpersonal skills
  • Reliability, timekeeping, and a smart appearance
  • Willingness to regularly attend major ceremonial occasions, mainly in Central London
  • Understanding of the history and structure of the Order and the Priory Commitment & Support
  • Expected to attend 3–4 events per year
  • Initial term of five years, renewable
  • Line managed by an Assistant Director of Ceremonies
  • Mandatory training and ceremonial robes provided
