The Courtauld is a world‑leading higher education institute for the teaching and research of art history, conservation and curation, and is home to one of the world’s greatest art collections. It is developing a new world‑class campus at Somerset House, a £82 million project that will strengthen its position as a leading global centre for the visual arts.
Salary and Benefits£64,089 per annum (Grade 8). 30 days’ leave, bank holidays, closure days, pension scheme, hybrid working and excellent benefits.
Role OverviewAs we approach our centenary in 2032 and expand into new areas of teaching and research, we are recruiting a Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships to drive the growth of our fundraising income as part of our ambitious centenary campaign, “Courtauld 100”. The senior leader in Advancement will manage a high‑performing team whose work encompasses major gifts, corporate partnerships, donor relations and stewardship, and will secure major gifts that deliver new facilities for the Courtauld’s second century, increase the endowment, and fund critical needs such as funded posts, scholarships, exhibitions and research initiatives.
Responsibilities- Lead a team focused on major gifts, corporate partnerships, donor relations and stewardship.
- Secure major gifts to support new facilities, endowment growth and critical funding needs.
- Drive the execution of the “Courtauld 100” centenary campaign.
- Build and maintain relationships with individuals, institutional funders, foundations and trusts at six‑ and seven‑figure levels.
- Engage and motivate the team to deliver the organisation’s biggest campaign to date.
- Senior leader and fundraiser with a strong track record of leading teams and generating income growth.
- Excellent stewardship skills and high‑quality written output.
- Flexible, collaborative and entrepreneurial approach with a talent for spotting opportunities and turning strategy into action.
- Passion and commitment to the visual arts and art education.
