Lead Solution Architect; Barcode - FTC

Salary scale: £59,031 - £80,079 per annum

We’re seeking an experienced solution architect with a strong track record in ticketing technologies, who can work at the intersection of transport and tech. You’ll need to be fluent in the language of wireless architectures, encryption and cloud architecture.

Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive clarity across complex technical domains are essential.

• AWS Certified Solution Architect (or equivalent experience)
• Expertise in distributed systems design and messaging architectures including peer-to-peer communication protocols, decentralized message routing and protocols such as MQTT
• Hands‑on experience with edge computing and resilient network topologies, especially designing systems that avoid single points of failure and can continue functioning under intermittent connectivity
• Strong background in systems integration, scalability and performance engineering
• Understanding of emerging cryptographic standards and post‑quantum security – including awareness of NIST‑selected post‑quantum algorithms
• TOGAF or similar architectural certification
• Extensive experience leading technical architecture in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment
• Strong experience with API gateway platforms and integration design
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS
• Knowledge of the latest architecture principles
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Hands‑on experience with architecture tools such as Visio, Lucidchart or Enterprise Architect
• Track record of delivering scalable, secure, high‑performance digital solutions
