Our client, a well-established and fast-growing food and consumer products business, is seeking a Specification Technologist to join their Technical team at their Nuneaton site.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-driven technical professional to play a key role in ensuring product specifications are accurate, compliant, and maintained to the highest industry standards. The position sits within a collaborative technical function and works closely with NPD, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and external suppliers.
Responsibilities- Create, review, and maintain raw material and finished product specifications across internal and customer systems.
- Ensure all specifications comply with current UK/EU legislation, including allergen, nutritional, and labelling requirements.
- Obtain and validate supplier technical documentation, including allergen declarations and compositional data.
- Support product launches by verifying technical information prior to submission and approval.
- Review and approve packaging artwork to ensure legal and technical accuracy.
- Maintain and update specification databases following reformulations or supplier changes.
- Conduct gap analysis and risk assessments related to specification data.
- Provide technical documentation to support internal and external audits.
- Monitor regulatory updates and implement necessary specification changes.
- Experience in a Specification Technologist or Technical role within food, supplements, or FMCG manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of UK food labelling legislation and allergen management.
- Experience using retailer specification portals or specification management systems.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.
- Comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related discipline (desirable but not essential depending on experience).
