As a Trainee Machinist, you’ll join a supportive Machine Shop team working on aircraft landing gear components in a highly regulated environment. This role offers structured training, practical experience, and exposure to precision machining, giving you the foundations to grow within the aerospace MRO industry.
TasksThe Trainee Machinist will support the overhaul and maintenance of aircraft landing gear components while developing machining skills under supervision.
- You will assist with machine setup, operation, and monitoring, read technical drawings, take precise measurements, and support routine machine maintenance.
- Working closely with experienced machinists, engineers, and quality teams, you will contribute to safe, accurate, and efficient machining activities while maintaining high aerospace and health & safety standards.
The ideal Candidate should meet the following requirements:
- GCSE level education or equivalent
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Engineering qualification desirable
- Basic knowledge or experience in a machine shop or engineering environment
- Awareness and understanding of PPE and safe working practices
- Exposure to CNC or manual machine tools advantageous
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
- Good planning, organisational, and communication skills
- PC literate with ability to complete basic digital tasks
- Team-oriented with a positive and proactive attitude
