Vehicle Sprayer / Paint Technician
Location:
Southeast London depot - Transport opposite the depot, easily accessible.
Duration:
Long term contract up to 4 years.
Pay:
- Night shift: £33.12 per hour Umbrella rate - Over time after 40 hours - £38.67
- £24.78 per hour PAYE (plus holiday pay)
Shift: Night shift only - Working Saturday night to Tuesday night starting at 10pm - 12 hour shifts - 40 hours a week.
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Sprayer / Paint Technician to join a train company's refresh campaign, primarily focusing on aesthetic painting work on the exterior of train carriages. The role involves preparing and applying paint finishes to rolling stock, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety and environmental standards. Candidates should have a proven background in vehicle painting, with previous roles such as Vehicle Sprayer, Paint Technician, Automotive Refinisher, or Bodyshop Worker.
A good mechanical understanding and experience working within a vehicle environment would be advantageous. The position requires flexibility to work across various shifts, including nights and occasional weekends.
- Prepare surfaces and apply paint coatings to the exterior of train carriages as part of refurbishment and refresh projects
- Carry out aesthetic repairs and finishing work to a high standard
- Follow health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE and COSHH regulations
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition
- Accurately complete records of work carried out
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards
- Proven experience in vehicle painting or refinishing (e.g., Vehicle Sprayer, Paint Technician, Automotive Refinisher)
- Knowledge of paint application techniques and surface preparation
- Understanding of mechanical aspects related to vehicle environments (desirable)
- Ability to work flexibly across day, night, and weekend shifts
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Awareness of health and safety regulations including COSHH
- Ability to maintain accurate work records
- Experience working in a production or workshop environment
- Reliability and punctuality
- Spray guns and paint application equipment
- Surface preparation tools (e.g., sanding machines, power tools)
- Basic digital record-keeping tools (if applicable)
- Relevant painting or spraying qualifications (desirable but not mandatory)
- Health and Safety training related to paint spraying and vehicle environments
- COSHH awareness and compliance
