WORKSHOP TECHNICIAN

Rate: £17.37 per hour (Umbrella)

Hours:

36.5 hours per week
Monday-Thursday: 07:00-15:00 | Friday: 07:00-13:30

A global engineering and technology business is seeking two Workshop Technician to join its Croydon workshop on an agency basis. The site supports maintenance, repair and overhaul activities for mechanical equipment used across rail, marine, power, oil & gas, and related sectors.

This is a hands‑on workshop role. It is not skilled fitting work, but it does require discipline, physical effort and the ability to follow instructions exactly as trained.

The Role
  • Component cleaning and preparation prior to overhaul
  • Jet washing of mechanical assemblies
  • Materials handling, loading and unloading
  • Basic strip‑down of mechanical assemblies
  • Preparation of parts for assembly
  • General workshop duties and housekeeping
  • Completing basic technical documentation accurately
  • Adhering strictly to health, safety and quality standards
  • Supporting day‑to‑day maintenance of workshop equipment

Previous use of pallet trucks, cranes or other materials handling equipment is helpful but not essential – training can be provided.

  • Basic mechanical awareness or aptitude (training provided)

  • The workshop supports regulated industries, including rail
  • Full compliance with national drugs and alcohol testing programmes is mandatory
  • This is a physical, workshop‑based role – it will not suit someone looking for office or semi‑skilled work
