Production Technician - Trains

Location:

North London

Contract Duration: 12 months initially

Pay Rates:
  • Umbrella: £23.49 per hour (including 15% shift allowance)
  • PAYE: £19.72 per hour (including 15% shift allowance)
  • London Rail Allowance: £333.33 per month (paid after 3rd month)
Shift Pattern:
  • Initial Day shifts (first 4 weeks)
  • Then a rotating pattern of Days & Lates
  • Nights to be confirmed

We are looking for a Production Technician to join a busy and well-equipped rolling stock maintenance depot in North London. Working as part of an experienced Engineering team, you will play a key role in the diagnostics, production, modification and fault rectification of rail vehicles, ensuring safety, reliability and performance standards are met.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technician with a mechanical or electrical background who wants to develop their rail industry experience in a structured depot environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out diagnostics, production activities and modifications on rolling stock assets
  • Perform basic fault finding on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Accurately complete all maintenance, production and fault records in line with procedures
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, manuals and publications
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping at all times
  • Correct use and care of tools, equipment and PPE
  • Produce clear, detailed and technically accurate reports
Knowledge & Experience Required
  • Background in a mechanical, electrical or engineering production environment
  • Previous experience in fault finding (rail experience desirable but not essential)
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety, including manual handling, COSHH, bio-hazards
  • Confident using computers and digital systems
  • Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to work
