We are currently looking for a Works Manager to work in the Building Operating Unit. You will serve as the link between site and office, accountable for multiple packages/areas (safety, quality, programme, logistics, coordination). The role is predominantly site-based, supervising Skanska teams and subcontractors to ensure compliance with company procedures, programme and project specifications. As a senior member of site staff you will drive high standards and coach junior staff in safety, quality inspections and holding subcontractors to account.
As the Works Manager, you will:
- Enforce Skanska HSE standards and support the project team to ensure subcontractor compliance.
- Lead site HSE audits with Skanska HSE and manage timely rectifications.
- Oversee supervision and coordination of subcontractors, labour and materials.
- Ensure subcontractors follow the latest programme and method statements; confirm daily 5@5 briefings and weekly collaboration actions.
- Report site operations to senior management via daily diaries and weekly reports.
- Build strong relationships with Skanska teams, subcontractors, consultants, and external partners to ensure project success.
- Proven track record delivering building projects worth £150M+.
- Senior works supervisor/foreman or works manager experience in the building sector.
- Skilled in leading site operations through the delivery phase.
- Lead by example; coach junior and office-based team members, sharing practical construction know-how and best practice.
- Lead from the front on safety, quality, programme and logistics, driving disciplined delivery.
