General Sales Manager - Main Dealership

Location:

Trafford, Manchester
Salary: £45,000 Basic | £75,000 OTE

Richard Abson Group are working with a well‑established main dealership in Trafford, Manchester to recruit an experienced and driven General Sales Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity to take full responsibility for the entire sales operation at a busy, high‑volume site with strong footfall, solid manufacturer support, and genuine scope to drive performance and profitability.

The Role

As General Sales Manager, you will lead both the New and Used Car Sales departments, taking overall responsibility for sales performance, profitability, team development, and customer satisfaction.

You will oversee a team of a Business Manager, and 5 Sales Executives, ensuring structure, accountability, and consistent delivery against KPIs.

You will be responsible for:

  • Driving overall site sales performance and profitability
  • Managing and developing New and Used Car Sales Managers
  • Setting and monitoring KPIs across volume, margin, finance and add‑ons
  • Overseeing stock management, acquisition strategy, and ageing control
  • Ensuring full compliance with manufacturer and brand standards
  • Maximising finance penetration and manufacturer campaigns
  • Maintaining exceptional levels of customer service and CSI
  • Recruitment, coaching and performance management of the sales team
  • Working closely with senior leadership to deliver site‑wide objectives

This role requires a strong leader who can motivate a team, implement structure, and create a high‑performance culture while maintaining a positive working environment.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Proven experience as a General Sales Manager or an experienced Sales Manager ready to step up
  • Strong understanding of both New and Used car operations
  • Track record of delivering against volume, margin and F&I targets
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and people management skills
  • Commercially astute with a data‑driven approach
  • Highly organised with strong compliance knowledge
