Job DescriptionWe are recruiting for a Director to join our London‑based Health, Science and Education Cost Management Team. The London Cost Management Health team is a highly respected group delivering significant and prestigious healthcare projects across public and private sectors. The portfolio ranges from small‑scale refurbishments to major hospital developments, and team members have opportunities to gain experience in other sectors within the broader Health, Education and Science teams.
Responsibilities- Lead the commercial delivery of various projects.
- Establish professional relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Manage the cost of contracts in line with project objectives and policies.
- Provide accurate project cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting to completion within budget.
- Proactively monitor and manage cost variance and contract cash flow to ensure timely and correct applications.
- Collaborate with client and contractor teams to manage delivery of project deliverables, KPIs and objectives, including programme performance, cost control and value engineering.
- Manage contract changes effectively, keeping projects within governance and applying best practices.
- Drive improvements in forecast and budget accuracy.
- Provide commercial knowledge and support to all stakeholders.
- Ensure final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
- Mentor and support junior staff members.
- Excellent communication with stakeholders.
- At least 5 years of wide‑variety project experience.
- Contract management (JCT and NEC contract forms).
- Cost management expertise.
- Change management and control.
- Valuation skills.
- Risk management.
- Procurement experience.
- Cost planning/estimating.
- Reporting proficiency.
- Collaborative approach and best‑for‑project attitude.
- Sharing best practices.
- People management.
- Commission management.
- Identifying and driving efficiencies and improvements through the project lifecycle.
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters such as procurement routes, value management and value engineering.
- Proven track record of delivering high‑quality cost management/quantity surveying services across the full project lifecycle.
- Degree or HNC level qualification.
- Professional qualification desired (MRICS or similar).
- Ability to successfully manage and prioritise multiple projects simultaneously.
