Job Overview
The Head of Operations will support the Division in directing, guiding, and leading the care group in the overall management of the care group specialties. The role develops strategic business plans and performance management frameworks to ensure delivery of key activity and financial targets.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Divisional Director of Operations in engaging clinical managers, preparing annual business plans, and developing capacity to deliver local and national priorities.
- Provide senior operational support to the specialties, contributing to operational recovery and strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with the Divisional management team to drive directorate-wide programmes of work and service direction.
- Bring together divisional and corporate recovery plans aligned to short and long-term objectives.
- Communicate complex concepts to staff groups and clinicians, negotiating barriers to change, ensuring plans are delivered to time frames and expectations.
- Shape and implement corporate objectives for the Trust with the Divisional Director of Operations.
- Accountable for operational performance, including high-quality patient care, clinical governance, safety, and financial targets.
- Drive continuous improvement across the directorate, delivering Trust-wide recovery and transformation programmes.
- Develop staff through training, ensuring performance accountability, managing risk, clinical governance, complaints, adverse incidents, and robust quality impact assessments.
- Maximise staff engagement, deploy resources efficiently, and ensure workforce KPIs are met.
- Manage budgets, authorise expenditure, and work with finance and clinical teams to deliver sustainable, high-value services.
- Lead service improvement projects, support strategic planning, and implement digital solutions to enhance operational delivery.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, represent the Trust in sensitive situations, and keep abreast of policy and regulatory changes.
- Deputise for the Divisional Director of Operations as required.
- Participate in the Silver on-call rota.
