Real Estate Services (RES) is part of the Global Procurement & RES Infrastructure team within the Global Chief Operating Office (GCOO)  function is responsible for shaping and delivering the Bank’s real estate strategy globally, working in close partnership with businesses, senior leadership, and external strategic partners.

In this fantastic new role, you will lead HSBC’s global real estate portfolio management and transactions agenda, setting the strategic direction of how the bank manages, plans, and evolves its office and retail premises. You will shape how the portfolio evolves to ensure optimal location decisions, effective space utilisation, and sustainable outcomes, aligned to HSBC’s key strategic drivers and business objectives.

This is a truly global role, with accountability across real estate strategy, transactions, estate, and asset management. You will act as a key strategic partner to the business, providing advisory services and key RES portfolio insights to support strategic decision making. You will engage with multiple suppliers worldwide, owning, and governing HSBC’s global portfolio management service contracts and providing strategic oversight of supplier performance and service delivery.

The role will report to the Global Head of RES as a member of the central global leadership team.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and embed the global framework, policies, operating procedures, and service delivery model for the portfolio management and transactions service line, to be adhered to globally.
  • Lead and drive global office and retail real estate strategy in partnership with business stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Own and govern the global Portfolio Management partnerships and service contracts with CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield, including oversight of service delivery and supplier performance.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advice on complex transactions and strategic portfolio reviews.
  • Govern the global estate and transaction management end-to-end life cycle process.
  • Oversee the global business case approval process, including structured management of the portfolio pipeline, approval tools, simplification, and process improvements.
  • Ensure robust space data management and occupancy planning services, including occupancy analytics and capacity management.
  • Provide strategic management and operational oversight of asset management across the freehold portfolio, including overseeing the formal valuation process.
  • Act as the primary real estate partner to IWPB, with a focus on retail network planning.
  • Oversee portfolio management budget and Financial Reporting Plan (FRP) that includes rent, service charge and property tax.
  • Drive the reporting of key portfolio performance metrics, delivering regular insights to leadership via dashboards and executive reporting.
  • Working with the global ESG lead and procurement drive the ESG strategy through the entire value stream and fully integrated with Workspace, Design & Construction and Property Management (FM).
  • Amplify leadership effectiveness by enabling the Head of Real Estate Services to focus on strategic outcomes by providing structure, clarity, and oversight of functional delivery.
  • Embed standards of excellence through leading and managing team members in a matrix environment, ensuring accountability and reinforcing a culture of high performance.
  • Collaborate across Real Estate Services, Global Procurement and broader GCOO teams to ensure alignment of strategy, policy, and delivery.
  • Collaborate and contribute proactively to the data and technology Future State Architecture in RES.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Technical & professional expertise: Extensive experience across RES strategy, portfolio management, transactions and estate management and asset management, with ability to operate effectively across a global portfolio balancing cost, risk, and performance.
