The Role

We are recruiting an Assistant Project Manager to join our London team, working on high-profile projects for a blue-chip client. This role is specifically designed for someone who wants to progress into a Project Manager position and is ready to learn by doing.

Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, you will support the delivery of complex construction projects from inception through to completion. You’ll be exposed to all stages of the project lifecycle, working closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams, while developing the technical, commercial, and leadership skills required to manage projects independently in the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Project Manager in the day-to-day management of construction projects, ensuring delivery in line with client and company standards
  • Assist in coordinating site activities, monitoring progress, and reporting on programme, quality, and risk
  • Act as a professional point of contact for clients and stakeholders, helping to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Support project documentation, reporting, and internal governance processes
  • Learn and apply construction methodologies, systems, and procedures aligned with client requirements
  • Contribute to problem-solving on live projects, escalating issues appropriately and proactively
  • Develop the skills and confidence to take on increased responsibility, with the aim of managing projects independently over time
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Academic qualification in construction or a related discipline, or equivalent on-site experience
  • Experience supporting projects across multiple phases, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, particularly in client-facing environments
  • Professional, organised, and able to operate with a degree of independence while taking direction when required
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, live construction environment
  • IT literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Experience with programming or software development is desirable but not essential, a willingness to learn is key
Personal Attributes
  • Ambitious, proactive, and keen to build a long-term career in project management
  • Confident engaging with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders
  • Resilient, adaptable, and calm under pressure
  • High standards, strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in delivering quality outcomes

We invest in our people. You’ll receive structured training, mentoring from experienced Project Managers, and exposure to complex, high-value projects. This role offers a clear and supported pathway to becoming a Project Manager within Morris & Spottiswood.
