Uttam Ji and Sons Limited is a rapidly growing e-commerce and wholesale business with a strong entrepreneurial foundation. What began as a single brand has now expanded into a portfolio of 8 owned brands, operating across multiple channels. We are at a pivotal growth stage and are now looking to bring in a visionary and execution-focused Chief Operating Officer (COO) to structure, scale, and professionalize the organization.

Role Summary

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for end-to-end operational excellence, compliance, governance, and organizational structuring across all business verticals. The COO will translate the company’s vision into robust systems, processes, and controls while ensuring sustainable and compliant growth.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities who thrives in fast-growing, entrepreneurial environments.

Key Responsibilities 1. Operations & Business Structuring
  • Design and implement scalable operational frameworks across e-commerce and wholesale channels
  • Standardize SOPs across brands, warehouses, supply chain, finance, HR, and customer operations
  • Drive efficiency, cost optimization, and productivity improvements
  • Establish KPIs, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms for leadership visibility
2. Compliance & Governance (Primary Focus)
  • Oversee and ensure full compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and legal requirements
  • Manage compliances related to VAT, income tax, ROC, labor laws, and industry-specific regulations
  • Coordinate with auditors, legal advisors, company secretaries, and regulatory authorities
  • Strengthen corporate governance, risk management, and internal controls
3. Financial & Performance Oversight
  • Work closely with finance teams to ensure accurate reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Monitor cash flows, working capital, and operational margins
  • Support fundraising, investor interactions, and due diligence processes if required
4. People, Culture & Leadership
  • Build and lead high-performing cross-functional teams
  • Establish organizational structure, roles, and accountability frameworks
  • Drive a culture of ownership, discipline, transparency, and excellence
  • Mentor senior leadership and second-line managers
5. Strategic Growth Support
  • Partner with founders to define and execute medium- and long-term growth strategies
  • Support brand expansion, new category launches, and operational readiness for scale
  • Identify risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies
Ideal Candidate Profile Experience & Background
  • 18 to 20+ years of experience in operations, compliance, or general management roles
  • Prior experience as COO / Head of Operations / Business Head preferred
  • Experience in e-commerce, retail, wholesale, FMCG, or consumer brands is highly desirable
  • Strong exposure to compliance, governance, and regulatory frameworks in UK
  • Experience in scaling businesses from early/mid-stage to structured organizations
