Associate Project Director - Roads​/Highways

With sustained airline passenger growth in the UK and the recent government approvals, Mace consult have been appointed for one of the UK’s largest airports in the South East of England to deliver their high‑profile airport expansion plans.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director - Project Management (Roads) to join our team on a permanent basis. As Project Manager you will represent Mace whilst interfacing with our key clients. You will be required to lead others effectively, give clear direction, coach and support others to reach their full potential.

• Overseeing project time frames and project budgets and ensuring budgets are managed diligently and highlight any risks, challenges and mitigations.
• On behalf of external/third‑party clients oversee the project management of the project/s on an individual and team basis from inception to post‑completion.
• Ensuring the successful delivery of the project in line with all stakeholders’ expectations communicating strategies to the wider client/consultant/contractor team.
• Providing subject matter expertise and guidance to support the success of the project.
• Overseeing management of the client and consultant team and all external/project stakeholders to ensure effective completion of the project in line with client expectations.
• Actively driving collaboration between all parties.
• Producing design and authorities programme to be integrated with procurement and delivery programme.
• Managing the timely delivery to programme from project inception/brief, through design development and planning, contractor procurement and construction phase in accordance with the overall delivery program and agreed project milestones.

• Proven experience delivering roads and highways infrastructure programmes for major clients.
• Strong NEC contract expertise with deep project management capability.
• Effective stakeholder engagement across complex, multi‑level client organisations.
• Chartered professional (MCIOB, MAPM, MRICS, MICE or equivalent).
