Payroll & Pensions Manager

We are working on behalf of a highly regarded organisation to recruit an experienced Payroll and Pension Manager to join their finance function on a permanent basis. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this role will lead a small payroll team and take ownership of multiple in‑house payrolls, while playing a key role in team development and continuous improvement during an exciting period of change.

• Manage and oversee four in‑house payrolls (two weekly and two monthly)
• Lead, support and develop a small payroll team, ensuring high performance and engagement
• Provide hands‑on payroll expertise while maintaining strong controls and compliance
• Support the team through upcoming organisational and payroll‑related change
• Identify, recommend and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy
• Act as a key point of contact for payroll and pension‑related queries and escalations

• A strong people manager with proven experience leading and developing payroll teams
• Extensive technical, in‑house payroll experience
• Demonstrable experience delivering process improvements within payroll
• Confident operating in a changing environment with a collaborative, solutions‑focused approach

• 35‑hour working week
