Overview

You will work in an organised team attaining and maintaining up to date working knowledge of all processes and procedures related to the successful running and maintenance of our data centres.

Responsibilities
  • Understand Operational procedures and processes such as Risk Management Method Statements (RAMS), Maintenance Operating Procedures (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Be involved in the day-to-day monitoring and inspection of buildings and equipment whilst adhering to Health and Safety procedures and legislation.
  • Perform maintenance tasks under supervision and develop to demonstrate skills with mentoring and coaching.
  • Perform quality checks related to facilities, including reviewing relevant documentation and test reports and following up tickets as needed.
  • Assist with projects to identify root causes of issues and contribute to projects and programs.
  • Respond to incidents and events that could impact the availability of critical infrastructure.
  • Maintain a commitment to personal development through active learning and inquiry; use information technology to document, communicate and manage information.
  • Obtain, read and interpret task-related documentation such as work instructions, quality control documents, drawings, operation manuals, specifications and service manuals.
  • Record information such as job sheets, risk assessments, equipment service records, test results, handover documents and manufacturers’ documentation, asset management records, checklists and environmental records.
  • Conduct initial assessment of equipment requiring maintenance and formulate plans with timescales and required resources.
  • Select, prepare and use materials, consumables, tools and equipment safely.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and organisational requirements (e.g., COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, PPE) and apply safe systems of work.
  • Apply dynamic risk assessment, hazard identification and risk mitigation principles.
  • Apply isolation principles and techniques to equipment undergoing maintenance, including dissipation of stored energies as required.
  • Manufacture, repair and refurbish components using hand and machine tools.
  • Restore the workplace on completion of maintenance and handover resources, consumables and equipment to the process owner.
  • Apply techniques and processes used in reactive maintenance and repair on complex engineered systems (electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems).
  • Produce, maintain, update and store documentation including electronic items such as PLC and robot programmes.
  • Apply techniques and processes used in planned and preventative maintenance on engineered systems.
  • Apply functional testing and checking techniques after maintenance interventions and handover to the operational team.
  • Apply condition monitoring and non-destructive or sensory testing; record findings and take necessary actions.
  • Apply calculation techniques (e.g., feeds, speeds, tolerances, Ohm’s law, power calculations and cable sizing).
  • Select, use and calibrate electrical and mechanical testing and measuring equipment.
  • Produce sketches or drawings to support maintenance activities.
  • Communicate in writing; prepare communications, documents and reports on technical matters.
  • Segregate, separate and dispose of waste streams and by-products.
  • Apply 4S or 5S principles of housekeeping to the work environment.
  • Identify opportunities and make recommendations to improve operational performance; apply continuous improvement techniques.
  • Communicate with others verbally and negotiate with colleagues or stakeholders to access equipment or arrange access as needed.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion procedures.
  • Carry out and record planned and unplanned learning and development activities.
  • Apply fault-finding techniques used in reactive maintenance on complex integrated systems (e.g., structured diagnostic methods and component testing).
  • Produce and manage documentation and information management tasks using information technology.
