The Role:
St Paul's Girls' School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and reliable Cleaning Supervisor to join our Estates team. You'll help lead and support our team of cleaners, making sure that every part of the school is cleaned to the highest possible standard and that daily operations run smoothly.
This is a hands-on role - you'll be part of the cleaning rota yourself, while also supporting the Cleaning Manager by supervising staff, arranging cover for absences, managing stock, and ensuring that everything is done safely and efficiently. As a key holder, you'll also help with opening and securing the school buildings.
Main Duties:
Supervise and support a team of cleaners across the school
Carry out cleaning duties alongside the team, maintaining excellent standards
Promote teamwork, mutual respect, and a positive working environment
Arrange cover for staff absences and ensure all areas are cleaned as scheduled
Provide daily updates to the Cleaning Manager on progress, staff, or issues
Monitor staff performance and offer support or training when needed
Ensure correct and safe use of cleaning machines, tools, and equipment
Oversee stock checks of cleaning materials and PPE, and report shortages
Follow and promote Health & Safety and COSHH regulations
Report any hazards, accidents, or maintenance issues promptly
Open and lock up buildings as required, ensuring the premises are safe and secure

Person Specification:
Essential skills:
Experienced in supervising cleaning teams (ideally in a school or similar setting)
Confident using and maintaining cleaning machinery
Knowledgeable about PPE, cleaning materials, and COSHH procedures
Organised, reliable, and calm under pressure
A good communicator who treats others with respect and fairness
Trustworthy and responsible - experience as a key holder is essential
Flexible about working hours and willing to help where needed
Desirable skills:
NVQ or equivalent qualification in Cleaning & Support Services
Health & Safety or First Aid training
Safeguarding and DBS checks
