Caretaker
Hours: 40 hours per week over 5 days (Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend work)
Reports to: Resident Managers
We're looking for a dedicated Caretaker to join our team and help us deliver exceptional experiences for our residents. You'll play a vital role in ensuring our buildings are clean, safe, and well-maintained to the highest standards.
Working closely with our Resident Managers and Property Team, you'll be responsible for minor repairs, groundskeeping, and creating a welcoming environment that our residents are proud to call home.
Repairs & Maintenance
- Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks
- Replace bulbs, conduct meter readings, and paint external areas
- Support the Maintenance Assistant with furniture moves and multi-person tasks
- Report hazards and maintenance needs proactively
Groundskeeping
- Maintain external areas to ensure they're safe and presentable
- Empty bins, pressure wash concrete areas, and keep fire exits clear
- Organize and clean bin stores with regular jet washing
- Operate compactors and bailers for recycling and waste management
Turnaround Support
- Assist with flat turnarounds and redecorate rooms and communal areas as needed
Customer Service
- Communicate effectively with residents and colleagues
- Liaise with contractors to ensure work completion and health & safety compliance
- Contribute to overall customer satisfaction
Essential:
- Previous property caretaking experience
- Strong team player with excellent customer relationship skills
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to move large external bins
- Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays when required
Desirable:
- Experience in the private residential sector
- Recognized trades qualification (City & Guilds/NVQ)
