Salary: £26,000
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, proactive and skilled Caretaker for a school in Streatham. This vital role ensures the pupils, staff and visitors can enjoy a safe, clean and well-maintained environment both indoors and outdoors.
The ideal candidate will take pride in maintaining high standards, have strong practical abilities, and enjoy contributing to the wider life of our school community.
Main Purpose of the Role
The Caretaker will:
- Ensure the school buildings and grounds are safe, clean and well-maintained.
- Carry out general repairs, maintenance and DIY tasks to support a safe working environment for pupils and staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Premises Maintenance
- Carry out ongoing repairs and odd-job work.
- Hang shelving, display boards and undertake minor improvements.
- Ensure the security of the school buildings and grounds.
- Liaise with external contractors on site.
- Receive and distribute deliveries, checking delivery notes.
- Monitor and order stock items (e.g., tissues, soaps, bulbs, batteries).
