What You’ll Be Working On

We’re continuing to scale our legal function and looking for a UK-qualified Legal Counsel to join a close-knit, elite legal team of three (including the Head of Legal) - we move fast, back each other, and get things done. Reporting to our Head of Legal, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering an ambitious roadmap of legal, compliance, and commercial initiatives across Fund Apps and the newly combined group with Steel Eye.

Integration focus (first few months)

  • Supporting the integration plan across policies, contracts, suppliers, and internal processes.
  • Reviewing the existing contract landscape (customer, vendor, data provider, partner) and helping triage: what to keep, update, consolidate, novate, or retire.
  • Helping align and harmonise key policies and governance (e.g. privacy/data protection, security, procurement, contracting playbooks, compliance documentation).
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders (Finance, Rev/Sales, Product, Info Sec, Ops, People) and external counsel where needed.
  • Identifying and escalating material risks, non-standard commitments, or integration blockers early and proposing pragmatic solutions.

Core in-house counsel (ongoing day-to-day)

  • Review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements (vendor contracts, data provider agreements, client terms, NDAs, DPAs).
  • Partner with the Revenue team to resolve client contract queries, lead negotiations, and remove blockers to close by:
    • Running live negotiations (calls/video) with counter parties, procurement, client legal departments, and external counsel.
    • Pushing back on unfavourable terms, proposing alternatives, and explaining legal positions clearly and persuasively.
    • Balancing legal risk with commercial outcomes and adapting negotiation style to counter parties and business goals.
  • Guide contracts through their lifecycle - order forms, redlines, renewals, amendments, terminations.
  • Improve contract management processes and tooling - including renewal monitoring and standardising workflows.
  • Advise on legal and compliance aspects of new product features, especially related to data, AI, integrations, and regulated-market customers.
  • Track relevant UK/EU regulatory developments (e.g. privacy/data protection and tech regulation) and deliver digestible, actionable updates to the business.
  • Respond to ad-hoc legal queries across the company (often via Slack), enabling quick and sound decision-making.
  • Drive legal ops projects that improve scalability and efficiency, such as:
    • Refining our internal playbook and building training resources for client-facing teams.
    • Evolving privacy and data governance practices for a scaling SaaS business.
    • Creating external compliance resources so clients can self-serve common questions.
What You’ll Bring To The Team

We’re looking for someone with great instincts, curiosity, and pragmatism, eager to learn and excited to help build something meaningful.

Must-haves

  • Qualified solicitor (in England and Wales).
  • 3+ years’ relevant legal experience (in-house at a tech/SaaS company is a strong plus).
  • Strong commercial contracts expertise - drafting, negotiating, and issue-spotting, with deep knowledge of key structures and risks (indemnities, liability, termination) and negotiation strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead real-time negotiations with confidence, clarity, and pragmatism (calls/video) with counter parties, procurement, client legal, and external counsel.
  • Comfort working independently on contracts and day-to-day legal matters, with good judgment on when to escalate.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity (“organised chaos”) - able to prioritise, bring structure, and make progress when there are more…
