Legal Counsel

A fast-growing energy and environmental services platform is looking to hire a Legal Counsel to join its in-house legal team.

This role reports directly to the General Counsel and offers broad exposure to commercial, technology and energy trading-related legal work in a dynamic, commercially driven environment.

You’ll provide pragmatic, business-focused legal support across the group, working closely with commercial, trading, finance, risk and technology stakeholders. The role offers genuine variety and responsibility, with scope to shape legal solutions in a fast-moving sector.

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts
  , including customer and supplier agreements, framework agreements and market access arrangements
• Advising on technology and software matters
  , including SaaS agreements, software licensing, development and support arrangements, and cybersecurity-related contracts
• Supporting energy and commodity trading activities, including physical trading arrangements and structured commercial solutions
• Assisting with derivatives and risk management documentation
  , including futures, options, swaps and bespoke OTC arrangements used for hedging and price risk management
• Providing legal input on structured and embedded derivative solutions linked to energy supply and trading
• Partnering closely with internal stakeholders to deliver practical, commercially aligned advice
• Supporting legal risk management, governance matters and engagement with external advisers
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members as the function continues to grow

• Junior qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent)
• Experience advising on commercial contracts
  , gained either in-house or in a commercial private practice environment
• Must have experience with technology, software or SaaS agreements
• Commercially minded, confident drafting and negotiating, with strong stakeholder management skills
• Experience in the energy sector or financial markets is advantageous but not essential
