Salary£69,398 per annum pro rata rising to £74,861 upon successful completion of probation.

Key Responsibilities- Provide legal advice on complex cases, ensuring processes and decisions are based on sound legal analysis and consistent with the Ombudsman's statutory powers and objectives.
- Support and advise colleagues on legal, procedural and regulatory issues relating to investigations.
- Draft Determinations for review by the Ombudsman or Deputy Ombudsman.
- Assist with reviewing and drafting other correspondence for staff, including to Members of Parliament and regulatory bodies.
- Act as a sounding board for colleagues and help identify, monitor and mitigate risks such as reputational, regulatory and litigation risks.
- Assist on a range of policy matters, including consultation papers, legislative changes, agreements with stakeholders, casework processes and compliance issues.
- Handle appeals, including reviewing claim forms, advising on merits and strategy, liaising with the Court and attending hearings where required.
- Represent the Ombudsman at external stakeholder and networking events.
- Ensure professional and technical knowledge remains up to date with current changes.
- Maintain high standards of customer care by meeting and exceeding service level agreements.
- Maintain databases and information recording systems.
- Contribute to priorities and objectives of the Legal Team and the Ombudsman.
- Undertake other duties as required.
- Experience in pensions, financial services litigation, disputes resolution, regulatory law, criminal law or public law is an advantage.
