Overview

Regulatory Disputes Associate role at Osborne Clarke
. We are seeking an Associate to join our Regulatory Disputes team, with a primary focus on regulatory compliance and investigations across complex, high-impact matters for leading businesses. The successful candidate will advise on non-contentious compliance frameworks (including Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC),
Failure to Prevent Fraud (FTPF),
Modern Slavery
, and Health and Safety
), and guide clients through investigations, enforcement, and related contentious processes.

Responsibilities
  • Advise on policies, procedures and risk assessments for ABC, FTPF, Modern Slavery, and Health and Safety, including related investigations (advising on investigation strategy, responding to regulatory information requests, preparing clients and witnesses for interviews, managing document reviews and disclosure, and coordinating with technical experts and in-house teams) and due diligence support.
  • Provide non-contentious advisory support on Health and Safety topics, including legal duties, training and policy development; assist with crisis and contentious matters following incidents or investigations (internal investigations, regulator engagement, witness interviews, disclosure management, interviews under caution, prosecutions, and related hearings) and due diligence support.
  • Navigate evolving regulatory frameworks and deliver concise, commercially grounded guidance under time pressure.
  • Engage with related specialisms (e.g., healthcare/life sciences regulation, product and consumer regulation, digital regulation, environmental litigation) as needed, including both advisory and contentious mandates, across multi-disciplinary and cross-office teams.

Illustrative Work Examples
  • Undertaking multi-jurisdictional anti-bribery and fraud risk assessments for significant multi-national clients and assisting with mitigation changes.
  • Preparing Transparency in Supply Chain statements for clients.
  • Playing a key associate role in a fraud investigation, including project management, document review, interview preparation, and report drafting support.
  • Advising a tech client on criminal-law risks adjacent to duties under the Online Safety Act.
  • Training clients on the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act and related Directors Duties guidance.
  • Providing strategic, multi-jurisdictional compliance advice for international clients, coordinating across jurisdictions and drafting overall strategy and risk-related advice.
  • Ongoing support advising a global aviation client on developing and implementing compliance systems.
  • Advising a renewable energy client on risk and supporting investigation following an H&S incident in the supply chain.
  • Collaborating with clients in regulated sectors (energy, utilities, transport, real estate/retail, technology/media, life sciences and healthcare).
Qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience in regulatory compliance and investigations, including: advising on regulatory frameworks; internal investigations; regulator-facing strategy; drafting responses to information notices; and preparing for or attending regulatory interviews, inspections, or hearings.
  • Focus areas: ABC, FTPF, Modern Slavery, and Health and Safety (candidates without experience in all areas will be considered). Experience in parallel civil, criminal, or public law issues is advantageous but not essential.
  • Exposure to complementary areas (healthcare/life sciences regulation, product regulation and consumer protection, digital regulation, environmental litigation) is beneficial but not required; willingness to work across these areas as needed, strong analytical skills, excellent drafting, confident client handling, and a proactive, solutions-led mindset are essential.
