Insurance Lawyer – 2+ PQE

We are looking to recruit a non‑contentious lawyer with insurance and related regulatory experience to join the firm’s growing Insurance team in either Edinburgh or London. Ideally, candidates will have upwards of 2 years PQE.
BackgroundThe Insurance team consists of 20 lawyers focused on both contentious and non‑contentious work. The team sits within our wider Regulation, Insurance and Funds team and collaborates closely with the Corporate Financial Services team. Primary clients include leading global insurers such as Allianz, Aviva, AXA, Bupa, Chesnara, Direct Line, Intact, Phoenix, Royal London, Scottish Friendly, Wesleyan and Zurich, as well as broker groups and retail distributors.
Responsibilities- Strategic partnership & bancassurance arrangements
- Drafting and negotiating distribution and outsourcing agreements
- Advising on retail and commercial product development
- FCA and PRA regulatory issues (investigations, enhanced supervision)
- Drafting and advising on regulatory issues (e.g., permitted links) relating to insurer investment arrangements
- Cross‑border regulatory perimeter issues
- Reinsurance agreements (including captive programmes and supporting Pension De‑Risking Team)
- Insurance business transfers (including renewal rights)
- Insurance sector M&A
We seek a qualified lawyer with at least 2 years PQE who is technically excellent, commercially aware, and enthusiastic about business development. The ideal candidate is a team player with a client‑focused approach, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the flexibility to undertake work across general and life/wealth insurance products. The role requires liaison with other teams such as Corporate on business transfers and M&A matters.
