About The Job

If you love and understand financial risk – assessing it, evaluating it, managing it, and advising on it – you’ll fit right in.

The purpose of this role is to join our Reinsurance Pricing Actuaries in providing the analytical and pricing support required by the MS Amlin Reinsurance Division. Reinsurance Pricing Actuaries are responsible for the delivery of high-quality pricing solutions that align with the company’s goals.

The Reinsurance Pricing Actuary role will be part of a product team of five (and a wider Pricing team of twenty-six people), providing coverage for Reinsurance businesses across Property, Casualty and Specialty lines. The role holder will report to the Head of Pricing.

What you’ll spend your time doing

As a Senior Reinsurance Pricing Actuary, you’ll be at the forefront of supporting Underwriting with data-driven insights. While no two days are alike, here is a snapshot of some key responsibilities:

  • Produce clear, data-driven pricing recommendations and present findings to senior stakeholders by carrying out large account case pricing.
  • Act as the primary actuarial advisor to underwriters, providing expertise on reinsurance case pricing, expected loss cost calculations and renewal monitoring while challenging assumptions where necessary.
  • Peer review and provide support on case pricing carried out by more junior members of the reinsurance pricing team.
  • Drive change and continuous improvements across the reinsurance pricing team, ensuring that processes, models, and strategies evolve to meet business needs and industry best practices.
  • Peer review and provide support on pricing model updates and development work carried out by the reinsurance pricing team.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the other members of the Pricing team, Underwriters, and departments reporting to the Chief Actuary.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Pricing Framework (PF) and Pricing Governance Policy.
  • Ensure the accuracy, development, and utilisation of management information for analysis and reporting purposes.
You’re going to enjoy this job if you also…
  • Possess a meticulous eye for detail and have a passion for problem-solving.
  • Communicate complex actuarial concepts in simple, clear language.
  • Enjoy collaborating with underwriters, actuaries, and model developers to drive results.
  • Have a drive for implementing change and improvements to models and processes.
What you’ll need

For this Senior Reinsurance Pricing Actuary role, the following qualifications and experience are essential:

  • Experience interpreting Catastrophe modelling outputs and integrating these into pricing decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to engage and influence senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Excellent time management skills and an ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.

  • A creative and analytical mindset to develop innovative solutions and enhance the Pricing team’s offerings.
  • Qualified member of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) or equivalent actuarial body.
