Trading Underwriter – Property & Liability. We’re looking for a Trading Underwriter with Property & Liability experience to join a Leeds-based team. In this role, you’ll help grow profitable business by understanding broker and customer needs and providing expert underwriting support. Working independently within your underwriting authority and collaborating on more complex risks, you’ll play a key role in delivering customer-focused outcomes and broader financial objectives.

• Underwrite profitable business within agreed guidelines, ensuring decisions are fair, balanced, and sustainable.
• Manage your own portfolio, build and maintain strong broker relationships, and provide technical input when underwriting queries arise.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver optimal outcomes for customers and contribute to branch performance and strategic goals.

• Property & Liability underwriting expertise — confident in assessing risk and delivering profitable, well-structured solutions.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills — able to engage effectively with brokers and customers, negotiate terms, and influence outcomes.
• Analytical judgment and decision-making ability — comfortable interpreting data and risk factors to create tailored underwriting terms.
• Excellent time management and prioritisation — able to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
• Regulatory awareness and organisational understanding — knowledge of FCA requirements and experience working within a large, complex organisation.
