The role involves handling a wide range of low value P&I claims for owners and charterers, supporting the wider claims handling function, research and administration.
What will you be doing?Key responsibilities will include:
- Handling a high volume and variety of low value P&I claims for owners and charterers, ensuring timely and cost-effective resolutions. This includes personal injury, cargo claims, and pre-load surveys.
- Estimating and settling these P&I claims promptly, ensuring compliance with guidelines and Member Terms of Entry.
- Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with Members and brokers, delivering exceptional service.
- Responding to general enquiries and providing support for claims-related queries.
- Conducting research to support claims and general activities.
- Preparing and maintaining presentation materials, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Assisting with the administration, filing, and drafting of P&I and Non-P&I matters.
- Collaborating with teams in FD&D, Underwriting, Loss Prevention, and other sectors.
- Supporting business development, networking, and maintaining an inclusive team environment.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of claims processes.
- Basic knowledge of shipping terms and common ship operations.
- Efficient and effective administration skills.
- Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to cope with demanding workloads.
- Legal knowledge (law degree or equivalent), technical expertise (mariner)
or prior experience within the maritime industry preferred. - Understanding of the basics of P&I claims and the P&I insurance industry.
- Some understanding of P&I Rules.
- Basic knowledge of shipping terms and common ship operations.
- Basic knowledge and experience in dealing with P&I/Non-P&I matters.

Salary from £26,100+, with scope to increase depending on experience.
