Application Manager

A leading professional services firm is seeking an experienced Applications Leader to oversee the strategy, development, governance, and performance of its application landscape.

This role partners closely with senior stakeholders, legal professionals, and business support teams to design and deliver technology solutions that drive measurable business value and align with strategic objectives. The successful candidate will lead the Applications Team, balancing operational support, project delivery, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Lead the development and continuous improvement of business-critical applications (both in-house and third-party systems).
• Define and implement a robust Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Secure SDLC aligned to recognised security standards.
• Establish effective governance, prioritisation, and release management processes.
• Ensure integration across core business systems to maintain data integrity and eliminate silos.
• Provide architectural oversight and strategic input into emerging technologies including AI, automation, and data analytics.

• Oversee solution design, development standards, and lifecycle management.
• Manage application releases, change control, and version management.
• Drive automation and optimisation to improve operational efficiency.

• Support cloud transition initiatives, ensuring security, performance, and compatibility of applications.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to maintain resilience and compliance.
• Monitor system performance and user feedback to inform enhancements.
• Ensure applications meet security, data protection, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to risk assessments and security accreditation activities.

• Provide clear reporting on performance, risk, and delivery progress.
• Communicate effectively with senior leadership on strategic technology initiatives.

• Strong background in application development and systems integration.
• Experience implementing SDLC and secure development practices.
• Proficiency in modern development technologies and database management.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Experience with agile and traditional project methodologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management, governance, and project delivery skills.
