Business Analyst – LNG Trading | London | Hybrid (3 Days Office) | Inside IR35
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in physical commodities trading
—ideally LNG— to join a leading global energy trading organisation. This role sits within a high‑performing Data & Analytics team
, supporting the development of analytics, models and data platforms that directly enable smarter LNG trading and commercial decision‑making.
The Role
You will be responsible for gathering, analysing and translating business requirements into actionable solutions for technical and data teams. Working closely with traders, analysts and global stakeholders, you’ll help shape scalable data and analytical products used across short‑and long‑term LNG and freight trading.

Key Responsibilities- Identify, analyse and document business requirements across LNG trading and analytics teams.
- Partner with technical teams to assess solution feasibility, risks and business impacts.
- Work directly with traders to understand model requirements and data behaviours.
- Support testing activities across the development lifecycle.
- Ensure delivery of solutions that provide measurable business value.
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies and operate effectively within a global, distributed team.
- Strong knowledge of physical commodities markets
: LNG, gas or oil. - Proven experience working in a trading environment
. - Delivery experience using Agile methodologies.
- Strong Business Analysis capabilities, including the ability to:
- Capture business problems and functional/non‑functional requirements precisely
- Translate requirements into practical solutions
- Visualise and articulate complex issues clearly
- Understanding of software testing principles.
- Ability to balance delivery deadlines with business value.
- Experience working with data
, including basic SQL capability. - Hands‑on experience collaborating directly with traders on trading models.
- Experience with Power BI
, Power Query
, or Power Automate - Detailed knowledge of the LNG market
- Exposure to metals, power or emissions trading
- Understanding of data management best practices
