About Us
Perk (formerly Travel Perk) is the intelligent platform for travel and spend management. Built to tackle the time‑consuming, manual work that gets in the way of real work, our tools automate everything from travel bookings to expenses, invoice processing, and more. By eliminating this shadow work that wastes hours, erodes morale, and saps innovation, we’re on a mission to power real work, with real impact.
We’re trusted by more than 10,000 companies worldwide, including Wise, On Running, Breitling, and Fabletics, and we’re tackling the 7 hours of lost productivity per employee each week, a $1.7 trillion problem.
Founded in 2015, Perk has grown into a global company of more than 1,800 people across 12 offices globally, with headquarters in London and Boston. We combine innovation, control, and simplicity to transform how businesses work and how people feel at work.
At Perk, we’re driven by our values, like being an owner, delivering a 7‑star experience, and working as one team. We value curiosity, purpose, and mindset, not just knowledge, to unlock the power in your potential. The RoleAs a Principal Product Designer on Perk’s Core AI team, you will shape how AI is embedded across our product in a way that is trustworthy, intuitive, and genuinely useful for customers. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact IC role with strong cross‑functional influence.
Core AI Responsibilities- Building foundational AI capabilities and patterns that can be reused across Perk.
- Shipping AI‑powered product experiences that improve user outcomes and reduce “shadow work.”
- Raising the bar for how we design, evaluate, and deliver AI features across Product Design (craft, safety, usability, measurement, and responsible use).
You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data/ML, and Design leadership. You will help teams go from “we could add AI here” to clear problems, strong interaction models, validated solutions, and high‑quality shipped experiences.
This is a UX/UI role with significant emphasis on interaction design, systems thinking, and craft quality
—with AI‑specific complexity around transparency, user control, failure states, and confidence.
- Experience:
8+ years working as a Product Designer on complex products (ideally with SaaS products). Experience leading ambiguous, cross‑product initiatives. - AI product experience:
Proven experience designing and shipping AI‑powered experiences (LLM or ML). You understand core concepts like probabilistic outputs, hallucinations, retrieval, evaluation, latency trade‑offs, and how these shape UX. - Interaction and UI design:
You excel at interaction design and UI craft. You can set quality standards for modern, dense product surfaces and simplify complex workflows. - System thinking and information architecture:
You can design scalable interaction patterns (not just one‑off features) and create clarity across complex journeys and permissions. - Experimentation and iteration:
You are comfortable working in iterative loops, using prototypes, dogfooding, and rapid testing to learn quickly, especially when “requirements” are unclear. - User research and testing:
You know how to de‑risk AI experiences through research, including testing comprehension, trust, calibration, and workflows. You can combine qualitative and quantitative signals. - Business thinking:
You connect design decisions to customer and business outcomes. You can articulate success metrics and trade‑offs clearly. - End‑to‑end execution:
You can take initiatives from concept to launch across multiple teams, breaking down complexity into shippable milestones. - Storytelling and influence:
You can align senior stakeholders, communicate the “why,” run workshops, and coach teams on better AI product thinking and craft. - Technical collaboration:
You collaborate deeply with engineers and data/ML partners, and understand technical constraints well enough to shape feasible…
